Taylor Swift Big Coming-Out Political Moment

The Trump era has made a big change in the political landscape in the U.S.A. It has a big impact too on the celebrity scene. As we know for so long Taylor Swift stay silent on electoral politics. But, it changes since the last Sunday night.

The singer got publicly political for the first time on Sunday. When she declared her support for Tennessee’s Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Phil Bredesen, in an Instagram post. Swift made the post about values rather than partisanship. “I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country,” she wrote. “I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.”

In the process, she trashed the Republican contender, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (who leads in the polls). Many conservatives, not surprisingly, reacted with outrage at Swift taking a stand that parts company with them. Also upset white supremacists and neo-Nazis, who in the past convinced themselves that Swift was on their side.

Swift never talked about current politics while promoting her latest album “Reputation”, and she did not allude to them in her work. Even as she attempted to disentangle herself from the image as a victim of the media’s interpretation of her. Which, she mocked in the video for “Look What You Made Me Do.”. That first single, buoyed by the excitement around her return, shot to No. 1, and so did the album. She played directly to her fanbase, and it worked, but as a pop persona, she had become culturally toxic to a widespread and influential segment of social media.

For someone whose music has always worked through a non-transgressive, inherently broad appeal. Swift has tended to inspire deeply divided reactions among different audiences. So it makes sense that the reaction to her weighing in on this election has been predictably mixed. But it’s a different thing to come out politically as a celebrity and a citizen, and quite a different thing to envision into a performance or an album. Will this be the beginning of a new political era for Swift as an artist or just the end of nearly a decade of frantic speculation? That remains to be seen and heard.

The couple moved in together after their engagement. Grande was also happy to speak about her blissful life with Davidson. In a song titled “Pete Davidson” from her most recent album, Grande sang: “Universe must have my back, fell from the sky into my lap/And I know you know that you’re my soulmate and all that.”

Davidson commented about the song on the season premiere of “SNL,” joking about the royalties he receives from the tune.

It’s unclear what that means for their living arrangement, which Davidson had also made clear in multiple interviews was a case of his magnanimous fiancée letting him live with her in her $16 million Chelsea apartment. It’s also still unclear where his relentless self-deprecation, a part of his comedic persona long before he and Grande got together, started and stopped and where the actual give-and-take of their relationship began.
