So now you know the stake is high. The problem is cleaning dirty makeup sponges is no easy task. Imagine trying to get rid of old foundation inside the sponge without breaking the sponge itself or leaving the soap residue. But no worries. With the list below, you can wash your sponges fast.

Option 1: Clean Your Sponges With Soap

If you are not sure what your sponges original color are, it’s time to bring out the big gun: soap. Whether it’s the liquid detergent or the bar of soap, you will get the same squeaky-clean result. Step one is to wet your sponges. Make sure they are soaking wet all thorough. Then, start dispensing the soap is you use liquid detergent or if you are using soap bar, start rubbing the bar against the sponges back and forth to build up lather. Option 2: Clean Your Makeup Sponges With A Soak

If your makeup sponge only has a few stains on them, then this option might be better than the first one. Slightly different than the first option, in this option you don’t slather the soap directly toward the sponge. Instead, you start with squirting a few drops of liquid detergent into a small bowl of water. Then, soak your sponge into the soapy solution for a few minutes. Step two, with a soap bar, try to really clean the stain spots. Use your fingers to massage the lather into the sponge. After all the stains are gone, rinse the sponge just like on the last step of first option.

The microwave energy will also likely kill any microorganism that maybe growing in the sponges. The first step of cleaning sponges with a microwave is to mix a few squirts of mild soap with water in a microwave-safe cup. Make sure you have enough soapy-solution to cover the whole sponge. Next, pre-wet the sponges by squeezes them into water for a little bit.
