Published

on

Christmas is coming and it’s time for warm apple cider, snuggle in front of the fireplace, and enjoy our favorite Christmas movies. Back then, when we were a child, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer might be our favorite movie. But since we are an adult, our favorite Christmas movies have switched into some chick-flick with romance, or heck some might still enjoy the ole times family movies. Here are 5 best Christmas movies to watch this year!

The Christmas Prince

Ordinary girl meets a handsome prince and falls in love thing is a little stale, but when you sprinkle a little holiday cheer on top, things get pretty festive. Starring Rose McIver and Ben Lamb, A Christmas Prince is a perfect movie to watch and snuggle with your loved ones.

The Holiday Calendar

Another new holiday rom-com that’s worthy of your time is this cozy tale of a struggling photographer played by Kat Graham who receives an old advent calendar that seems to be predicting her future, including a budding love affair. Cheesy enough to melt our heart, isn’t it?

The Princess Switch

The classic life swap between someone with gobs of privilege who just wants to experience the humdrum of ordinary life and an ambitious normie who wants to play dress up as royalty. Played by Vanessa Hudgens, the movie might sound a little too predictable. But hey, who doesn’t enjoy some comfort movie from time to time.

Love Actually

The film features an array of different people whose love life challenges are much more gutting than your average hokey holiday fare — from the guy who’s in love with his best friend’s wife, to the woman whose husband has eyes for another, to the woman who has a chance with the man of her dreams but has to sacrifice that connection to help a loved one in need, there are a lot of gut punches contained in this movie.

Celebrities With HIV

Published

on

HIV is a virus that weakens a person’s immune system by destroying CD4 cells, a type of white blood cell. While there’s still no cure for HIV, it’s highly manageable with antiretroviral therapy. With regular treatment, a person living with HIV can expect to live as long as a person without HIV. Despite all we know about HIV, there remains a lot of stigma surrounding it. The fact is, anyone can contract HIV — even the richest and famous people in the world.

Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson is a hero on several levels. Not only is he a former basketball star, but he’s also one of the first celebrities to inform the world that he’s HIV-positive. Johnson made his announcement in 1991 — a time when the public believed a great number of misconceptions about HIV. Over 25 years later, Johnson has made good on his plan for living a long time. While still involved in sports as a commentator, he also started the Magic Johnson Foundation, an educational organization whose aim is to prevent the spread of HIV.

His melodic voice and musical talents, as well as his fight against HIV, continue to inspire people today.

Celebrities Who Hate Each Other

Published

on

There’s just something so interesting about the unattainable realm of fame. That when you hear about two stars throwing shade. it suddenly seems like you’ve got a sneak peek inside their world. In this day and age, social media allows people to post regrettable comments through screen captures and folks with smartphones are able to capture stars when they aren’t necessarily at their best. It’s no surprise that there are celebrities whose hatred for each other spawned from an online spat.

Mariah Carey With Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, and Nicki Minaj

Yup, you read that right, Mariah Carey seems to be at feud with everyone in the music industry. Maybe because she’s a big diva, maybe because she’s, well, Mariah Carey. With Jennifer Lopez, the shade was thrown when Carey claimed that she never heard of J-Lo. With Demi Lovato, apparently, it happened when Lovato was supporting Ariana Grande and Jennifer Lopez from Mariah Carey herself. Lastly, the Carey/Minaj beefed started when both were judges on American Idol. Both parties claimed working with each other has been hellish.

Taylor Swift And Katy Perry

Though Taylor Swift is no stranger to airing her grievances through music, rarely does she name who her lyrics are directed at explicitly. Yet it doesn’t take a detective to piece together the clues that Taylor Swift and Katy Perry have some “bad blood”.

5 Best Songs From The 90s

Published

on

The Nineties music boom was a gold rush for singles. Every style of music out there was booming. From grunge to gangsta rap, from dancehall to disco, from riot-grrrl punk to TRL midriff mall-pop. Whatever kind of noise was ringing your bells, the Nineties held more of it than any fan could absorb. But this list will cover you some of the best songs in the 90s.

Sometimes By Britney Spears (1999)

Britney’s second hit – in other words, her first comeback hit. Nobody really expected the “…Baby, One More Time” girl to last all the way to the spring of 1999, but “Sometimes” was the Total Request Live jam that proved this girl was here to stay and the prototype for a new breed of pop star. Welcome to the next century.

If It Makes You Happy By Sheryl Crow (1996)

Sheryl, you had us all at the line about scraping the mold off the bread – the ultimate Nineties vision of rock & roll stoner torpor.

I’ll Be By Foxy Brown Featuring Jay-Z (1996)

Foxy: “I’m 2 live, nasty as I wanna be.” Jay: “Don’t shake your sassy ass in front of me.” Jigga had just arrived on the scene with Reasonable Doubt, and this hit with his teen protégée was just one of the ways he proved his mastery. Who would have guessed he’d remain on top for decades to come?

Torn By Natalie Imbruglia (1998)

There is all other karaoke, and then there is “Torn” karaoke. (When it comes to karaoke, 1998 remains the greatest summer of all time.) “Torn” is still an epic tear-jerker – although when you consider Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia’s celebrity beaus, you realize that girlfriend definitely doesn’t need your shoulder to cry on.

Wonderwall By Oasis (1995)

Noel Gallagher later admitted he had no idea what a wonderwall was. Neither did anyone else. It didn’t matter then and it doesn’t now – this song turns any room into an out-of-tune pub singalong.
